Lloyds business award: Our work with the NHS Trust

We've got some brilliant news: Datatron has been shortlisted for the Lloyds Business Enabler of the Year Award!

Our inclusion in the shortlist for the award is recognition that we enable customer benefits beyond that of products, infrastructures and services. Whether that's through innovation, operational efficiency, or otherwise.

So, in honour of our short-listing, we'd like to walk you through the project that got us here and why it was such a success.

Our critical project with the NHS Trust

Datatron has a long-standing relationship with the NHS Trust that spans 22 years. Throughout this time, we've helped to digitise patient notes, integrate complex Electronic Document Management Systems, and automate key processes.

In Spring 2020, however, the need for digitisation escalated. The Newcastle upon Tyne NHS Trust desperately needed physical space for patient care, particularly in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thus began the task of cataloguing, boxing, uplifting, and securely storing one million sets of patient records, as well as finding suitable premises to act as a secure records management facility.

Through changing requirements, tight deadlines, upskilling, and a global pandemic, the hard work of the Datatron team and the NHS Trust paid off.

Against all the odds, we delivered the project on time, rehousing over 15 linear miles of archive boxes.

Four months of hard work

The NHS Trust didn't have the luxury of waiting years for thousands of square metres of additional space. Nor did their patients. This is something our team understood thoroughly.

The project itself, in normal circumstances, would have taken over three years.

We managed it in four months, all while maintaining the utmost care. (Each file was catalogued and checked for 100 percent accuracy.)

This heroic effort is a testament to our strong relationship with the NHS Trust, hard work and the excellent communication from teams on both sides.

Going above and beyond

This project was the biggest challenge we've ever faced. But it's one that we know has had an immeasurable impact on the NHS and its patients.

We'd like to congratulate the NHS medical records team, who truly went above and beyond for us during such a difficult time, as well as the Datatron team for their commendable efforts.

We're beyond delighted to be short-listed for the Lloyds Business Enabler of the Year Award. And, we look forward to our ongoing partnership with the NHS Trust, which we know has only been strengthened by this team effort.
